Will sterilization change my monthly periods or make menstrual bleeding stop?

No. major changes in bleeding patterns after sterilization is not common. Your menstrual bleeding patterns may change, however, if you were using Pill, Injectable, Jadelle implant or IUD before sterilization. Also a woman’s menstrual blood usually becomes less regular as she gets older.

Will sterilization make me loose my sexual ability?

No. you will have sex the same as before. You may find that sex is better since you do not have to worry about getting pregnant. After sterilization you will look and feel the same as before. You will be as strong as before.

Will the sterilization produce hurt?

You will receive an injection to stop pain and most women remain awake. There is often some minor pain. You may feel sore or weak for several days after the surgery, but you will soon regain your strength.

Can I have the sterilization reversed?

No. Sterilization is permanent. If you think you may want more children, then choose another family planning method.

Does my husband/partner have to agree (sign a consent form) before I have sterilization?

No. you can decide on your own. It is best for the couple to make the decision together, but it is not a requirement.
